Family
Ministries Ministry to families is at the core of all
we do together at First Baptist. Our call and passion is sharing Christ
with the families of our community and world. We understand the strain
of daily life and hope to provide a community to support, encourage,
equip and challenge families of all shapes and sizes to follow Christ.
Our family friendly perspective shows up in all kinds of ways. Many
of our weekly programs allow for families to stay together for
activities in a cross-generational setting. Children are always welcome
to our special events and many of those events are focused for them. We
offer fellowship times allowing families to eat together, learn together
and do mission together.
Those whose children have grown and have their own families are not
left out. We offer studies, fellowship and more during times convenient
for them. There are also opportunities to serve as well.
Young, middle-aged and retired all can find a place to call home at
First Baptist. Join us as we seek to be His light to our world!

Youth
Ministries
|
When we say BYG things are happening at First Baptist
with youth we mean BYG: Baptist Youth Group. Our
ministry to young adults is an exciting adventure of
faith building activities and opportunities. We are
active and aware of the great energy available from our
youth who are ready to answers God’s call upon their
lives.

Our youth take mission seriously, we have organized
camps and vacation Bible schools using their support and
involvement, we have traveled to urban centers to assist
groups like, Habitat for Humanity and Bethel
Neighborhood center, we have journeyed to other states
to assist other churches with Vacation Bible Schools,
Food pantries and more. In our own community we have led
outreach events to share Christ with our friends and
family, and we continue to train to learn better how to
share our faith with others.
Currently, the youth is in a transition period as
some new leadership is in the process of working with
some past youth leaders to get ready for a new year.
We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for the
youth as the new year progresses!
Men's Ministries
American Baptist Men have been a part of First
Baptist from the beginning. The men of our
church participate and are active in many
missions
both
in our community and beyond.
Our men have a weekly prayer breakfast, an
annual Men and Boy’s Retreat and support various
aspects of our church's ministries with funds
and labor. Whether you like to mow, scoop snow,
shoot blue rock, share your faith, work at camp
or fund a project you will find something to do
with our active Men’s group.
Women's Ministries
|
American Baptist Women’s Ministries are
active and vital to the ongoing ministry
of First Baptist. The women of our
church are involved in supporting and
carrying out many kinds of ministries to
our community and world.

ABWM work includes local, national
and international. They host outreach
events in Fairbury like, Table
Treasures, send mission supplies through
White Cross and Samaritans Purse, fund
camp scholarships and support our young
adults away at college or the service
with Adopt-A-Young Adult, have an annual
Women's Retreat, and a weekly women's
Bible study. Our women know
outreach and live their faith, join them
and the fun.
Outreach
|
A core value at First Baptist is
reaching out beyond our four
walls. We’ve discovered that our
church exists not for our
convenience or needs alone, but
rather for the support and needs
of those who have not yet become
a part of God’s kingdom. First
Baptist exists to reach out to
all of our friends, families,
neighbors and more. Every
component of our ministry is
designed to invite people in and
take us out into our community
with that invitation.
This puts us in some
unexpected places at times. We
hand out free bottled water at
the community flea market, put
up advertising at the race
track, sponsor events geared to
welcome new people to our town
and offer gifts to those whose
lives are in transition.
We are always prayerfully
considering opportunities to
reach out beyond our building,
lives and tradition to bring the
Gospel to our community. |
